Northshore Drive Whitfords Avenue Duplication and Roundabout
Scope of Work:
- Staged pavement and verge demolition works to enable reconstruction – whilst maintaining through traffic past our works.
- Complex traffic control arrangement to enable safe transit around our works for both vehicular traffic and significant volumes of pedestrian traffic due to the nearby beach access paths.
- Significant electrical works package including new street lighting installation.
- Significant landscaping package within medians including irrigation works.
- Very high-quality finish on kerbing and coloured concrete package
- Over 3,000 tonnes of asphalt laid by WCP Civil in-house Asphalt crew.
This project involved duplication of incoming lanes to the Whitfords/Northshore intersection roundabout, including reconstruction of the roundabout itself to create 2 lanes in each direction at each leg. Additional works included improving drainage and resurfacing the existing adjacent carpark, significant portions of new red asphalt shared paths, new median lighting and median landscaping including irrigation systems.
A significant number of house dilapidation reports and constant communication with local homeowners was a pivotal part of completing the works with minimal disruption and negative effect on the locals.
Due to the works location being directly adjacent sand dunes, dust was a ongoing issue on the project which WCP Civil dealt with by having watercarts on site full time and immediately responding to the City’s requests for dust suppression.
